I created this blog to help collect comments on potential trail improvements for the Beach Lake Dog Mushing Trails. Several years ago, voters in the Eagle River Chugiak Parks and Recreation Service Area voted to tax themselves 1/2 mill in order to fund capital improvements. The idea was that with a predictable stream of dollars, the ER/C Parks & Rec department would not have to depend on annual bond issues, but could plan for capital improvements and major maintenance projects. As we move into 2008, Parks & Rec anticipates having capital money available for trail improvements in several areas, among them Mirror Lake ski trails and Beach Lake dog trails.

They are looking to the Chugiak Dog Mushers to provide input on what trail improvements are most needed. After even a brief discussion among the board, it became clear that different people have different ideas of what would be desirable, and improvements that some people may want, other may actively oppose.

I'll try to get posts started for each potential improvement, so you can quickly find the right place to comment. If you don't see an idea, and want to add one, make a comment on this post and I'll create a new post from what you say, for comment.

Thanks! This isn't the only way we'll be looking for feedback (I know not everyone is spending way too much time in front of a computer screen) but it seems like a good place to start.
